ABSTRACT
This article is the first ethnomycological documented case study
involving the use of psilocybin mushrooms as an aphrodisiac and is based on an
exchange of several letters of communication between the author, Sasha Shulgin,
and Jochen Gartz, written in the mid 1990s. It tells in detail, my first
psilocybin experience between my wife and I that produced an intense sexual
euphoric union while under the influence of magic mushrooms. It had produced
within us, timeless hours of pure orgasmic pleasure. The aphrodisiac effects of
such mushrooms were first reported in the literature at the time of the
conquest of Nueva España. Both Francisco Flores and Bernardo de Sahagún reported
that mushrooms used by the Aztecs ‘provoked lust’ and were ‘but one of the many
aphrodisiacs found in the New World.’ Between 1955-1966, several noted scholars
briefly reported experiencing similar euphoric effects and noted instances of
erotic sensuality in others while they were under the influence psilocybine.
Many of these scholars realized they had found the perfect sexual aphrodisiac. This
paper contains a short bio and I share with the reader, how I came to
know of drugs at the early age of ten-years-old as a child growing up in
Chicago. This article chronicles my experiences from childhood through the mid
1990s, further embellished from notes in my personal files and memories of my
life's experiences with drugs and sexual activities. Furthermore, I present
early pre-historical evidence of such sexual activities between humans,
animals, sex and mushrooms, including a short presentation of phallic symbolism
and festivals, historical data, and the words of Aldous Huxley, Albert Hofmann,
Weston La Barre, Timothy Leary, and Jochen Gartz.
Keywords: Mushrooms sex, orgasms, aphrodisiacs, rock and roll, phallic symbolism, sexual fulfillment,
anthropology, ethnomycology, Neotantric sex and evolutionary psychology. |
